The British Columbia Securities Commission has published a guide intended to provide general guidance for any small business, whether it be a start-up or an established business, that wants to raise money from private investors. The guide sets out how raising money from private investors differs from raising money in the public markets and it explains some of the securities laws that facilitate efficient and timely financing which is available here.
Any business endeavour, whatever the size or stage of development, which is considering raising money from any third party should consult qualified legal counsel before offering any securities or accepting any funds - period.
